back in the saddle with Tumblr & seeking Balance

hello to all after a near six month hiatus. autumn, for many, is time to nest indoors, cook comfort food & for myself it is a return to creativity as the summer months are all about getting outdoors. my plans are a return to my digital world & friends, as well as branching out into a more multi-medium arena. i've come to need dimension & texture in my photoshopping & i think that may have been a large part of my lack of motivation. changing gears & not quite sure of how to go about the change. furthermore, creativity has been somewhat stunted by working a lot & some bad habits so this fall is all about finding balance. this morning Tumblr crossed my path & was a shot in the arm of new energy.the above photo is a still from a film i have discovered via Anne Rice's Facebook page, which led me to a beautiful moving gif. image on Tumblr. it is called Vampyre from 1932 by Carl Theodore Dreyer & can be viewed on my new Tumblr blog: http://fairydust62.tumblr.com/

a moving target catches no bullets....a steampunk princess...

my take on "steampunk" using bright colors & contemporary images. for a "creative souls" swap the original card was dull on color & uninspired. i opted to use a more modern figure with eye-catching color to beat the steampunk doldrums.

i envy those who take to paints & scissors with confidence...
seeking to move beyond one-dimensional digital layouts, i feel the need for more texture & layering.
above is a humble first effort, the cover of a baby album using lines from various nursery rhymes. printing the collage out onto pricey textured paper & attaching it to an 8 x 8 piece of chipboard, i then added the lettering by a lovely line called "lost & found." eventually i will take some distress ink to the edges, or add a metallic pink embossed border. after the project is complete (embarking on page 2 this weekend) it's back to artco use their machine to punch holes in the chipboard & bind the pages together with pink ribbon. i am hoping that with each page i will become more daring with color & different mediums. the "glimmer mist" awaits.
